I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.

So, here we are. The 4th biggest snow fall in Pittsburgh weather history. Breaking all the records for February snowfall.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, I constructed this photo essay...for you!

This is the view from my street at 7 am, taken through the glass door.

Seriously, that is a lot of snow.

Wow, there's a bit of car under there!

Oh, and we can see by its markings that it is a Chevy.

The back window...

It must be my car, it has a "Got Milkweed?" bumper sticker.

It's beginning to look like a car under there...

Across the street, you can see what my car looked like before it looked like THIS.

I am covered in snow, just as dusk is falling. Time to go in and make some dinner.

Spring has sprung! (some random thoughts)

So Friday was the first day of Spring, and it cracked me up that the Today show had an actual "countdown" with Vivaldi's Spring playing in the background AND that it was snowing in NYC, where the show is recorded.

Today I took a walk to the Seminary and there was literally a herd of red breasted robins. At least twenty, just poking around on the main lawn which is really just dirt, no grass.

Earlier in the afternoon today, I went to see Duplicity, with Julia Roberts and Clive somebody. Very good, spy stuff. You have to pay attention, not a chick flick, but very fun.

Elliot (my car) likes to tell me when there is ICE POSSIBLE. So it cracked me up, on the way to the movies, when it was 53 outside (that's Fahrenheit) that Elliot reminded me ICE POSSIBLE and didn't think it was above 35 until I was already in Aspinwall (close to 5 miles from my house.) The temperature thing is the least important working part of my car (in my mind), but if it's not working and it's attached to the whole computerized thing...I fretted. And then it went up to 38, 41, and kept going until it was at 54. (Whew!)

I guess that's it for now. I wanted to just move on from the last two posts which were a little drama queen-ish. I'm adjusting to the fact that Sally NH is moving, and I plan to go visit Sally EE and baby tomorrow. (Plan being the operative word since I still need to call her.)

In the meantime, I'm still humming that Jason Mraz song.

Oh, and here's something that someone you might know is working on--it's a Mother's Day bookbuying holiday here in da Burgh. That Suzi W. is a good friend of mine, if you live in da Burgh, it will be a fun event. Stay tuned.

A fortnight...

Fourteen things, since I was pretty much gone for a fortnight, not in any particular order:
  1. Watched the movie Giant. Didn't fall in love with James Dean.
  2. Watched the movie The Philadelphia Story. Fell in love with Katherine Hepburn.
  3. Caught up on some issues of Vogue, including the ultra-fat September 2007 issue.
  4. Worked on two puzzles, one we finished, one we packed up in labeled Zip lock bags.
  5. Got a lobster burn on my left shoulder, which is pretty much faded and peeled by now.
  6. Spent the evening (tonight) watching SATC, Season 6, Part 1, whilst doing laundry.
  7. Co-worker popped her baby boy this morning! Congrats!! (We were daring, we took her out for lunch yesterday, whilst she was having contractions.)
  8. I need to do some serious cleaning and de-cluttering in the apartment.
  9. Sandcastle on Monday--and the forecast is sunny!
  10. I now only have one car on my car insurance. His name is Elliot and he is "stealth blue."
  11. I cried as my dad drove Lucy the Honda away, and promptly backed into the parked car behind me. No harm, but I flagged my dad down and had him make sure. Then *I* drove away (on my way to work.)
  12. I heart Twitter.
  13. I am getting used to my new pink cell phone (it was the two year upgrade time). Must procure a fun ring tone and set my speed dials. Oh, and it has a camera.
  14. It's time for bed.
I promise to write something soon. I thought I was going to tonight, but I got all blocked. But lists are fun too.
