In the House of Stone and Light...

A comment left by Sistahe reminded me of this song (because she referred to Psalm 91.)

I will not rest till I lay down my head
In the house of stone and light
I make my way
O gonna be such a beautiful day
In the house of stone and light
In the house of stone and light
Let me in beneath my skin
In the house of stone and light
It's been too long
My spirit's been at war
Havasupai Shaman
Let me be reborn

I know that this isn't really related to the post, except that you mentioned a Psalm and a song, but...
what is a praise song? How is it different from, say, gospel music or hymns or campfire songs?

I guess anything can be a praise song, if you're singing it for the right reason. My dad calls them 7-11s (7 words 11 times) which is no longer true, as most praise songs these days have lyrics as complex as many hymns. The music is generally more contemporary. (Whatever that means...) Using a drum set, guitars, and possibly a keyboard would probably be more accurate that "contempary."
